FAQ
How many other construction projects are you going to be managing while you manage mine?
We only work on one project at a time—yours. This ensures that when we’re at your home, you have our complete and undivided attention. We believe that every client deserves our full focus, so from the moment we begin your project, you become our one and only priority. We’re committed to staying on-site and fully engaged until your project is 100% complete. You can trust that your home is in good hands, and that our dedication to your project is unwavering.
What happens if I decide I want to change part of my project after we’ve started or I want to add something?
We completely understand that your vision might evolve as the project progresses—after all, it happens to us too! We believe in flexibility and adaptability. That’s why we don’t impose a "Change Order Fee" just because you want to make adjustments. We’re here to ensure that you get exactly what you want, even if that means making changes along the way. Of course, if the changes require additional work or materials, we’ll discuss any necessary adjustments to the budget, but you’ll never be penalized for refining your ideas. Our goal is to make the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible, ensuring that your home reflects your vision perfectly.
How long will my project take?
The timeline for your project largely depends on the scope of work and any changes or additions that might be made along the way. Before we begin, we’ll provide you with an estimated timeline based on our experience and the specifics of your project. We’re usually pretty accurate with our timelines, but if we need a few extra days to ensure everything is absolutely perfect, we’ll take that time. Quality is our top priority, and we won’t rush through anything just to meet a deadline.
If additional work is added, the timeline will naturally extend to accommodate those changes. However, because we’ll be solely focused on your project, we can avoid most unexpected delays, ensuring that your project progresses smoothly and efficiently.
How does pricing work?
Instead of giving a fixed cost, we provide a "price range" for your project. This approach allows us to account for any unexpected surprises—like finding something unforeseen when we open up a wall—without compromising the quality or progress of your project. The price range gives us the flexibility to adapt while still keeping everything within a predictable budget.
On the flip side, if everything goes smoothly and we don’t need to utilize the entire range, we’re more than happy to pass those savings on to you. Your final cost could end up on the lower end of the range, reflecting our commitment to giving you the best value possible. Our goal is to ensure that you feel confident and comfortable with the financial aspect of your project, knowing that you’re getting the best possible outcome for your investment.
what does your payment schedule look like?
We aim to make the payment process as straightforward and stress-free as possible. Typically, we don’t require a deposit before your project starts, unless we need to secure materials in advance to ensure they’re ready when we begin. Once your project is underway, we operate on a pay-as-we-go basis, which helps keep everything transparent and manageable. We usually send out bills on Fridays, allowing you to stay on top of costs as the project progresses. Our approach ensures that you only pay for work as it’s completed, giving you peace of mind and full control over your budget.
When it comes to payment methods, we offer several options to suit your preferences. We gladly accept cash, check, and ACH payments. Note: ACH payments are processed through QuickBooks, ensuring that your payments are safe and secure.
Are you licensed and insured?
Absolutely! We are a fully licensed and insured B-100 General Contractor in the states of Utah and Wyoming (coming soon). Our license number is: 11329071-5501. If you’d like to verify our information, feel free to head on over to https://dopl.utah.gov/ to look us up. We take pride in our professionalism and commitment to safety, ensuring that both you and your home are protected throughout the entire project. You can have complete confidence knowing that your project is in experienced and responsible hands.
Who will be managing my project?
When you meet us, you’re meeting the people who will be working in your home. We don’t send in a revolving door of random workers; it’s just us, Jake and Morgan, ensuring that your project is handled with the care and attention it deserves.
Will you be using subcontractors?
If we do need to bring in a subcontractor for a specialized service, you’ll meet them personally, and we’ll be there with them. Every subcontractor we work with has been vetted for nearly a decade, and we trust them completely—so much so that we’d trust them to be alone in our own home. We’re particular about who comes in and out of our projects because we know that your home is your sanctuary. You can trust that we’ll be the ones you see most of the time, ensuring a seamless, trustworthy, and comfortable experience.
How do you handle permits and inspections?
We recommend that you, as the homeowner, apply for your own permit. This approach ensures that you "own" the permit, giving you full control over the project from start to finish. Once the permit is in place, we will take care of coordinating with the inspector for all necessary inspections throughout the project. The reason we suggest this method is that if a contractor applies for the permit and you later decide to part ways or finish the project yourself, the contractor can retain the permit, potentially causing delays and requiring you to reapply. By holding the permit yourself, you avoid this issue and maintain full ownership of your project.
What kind of warranty do you do you offer?
We stand behind the quality of our work and the materials we use. That’s why we offer two key warranties to give our clients peace of mind:
1. Workmanship Warranty: We provide a 1-year workmanship warranty on all our projects. This warranty covers any defects or issues that arise due to the quality of our work. If something isn’t right, we’ll make it right—ensuring that your project meets our high standards of excellence.
2. Materials Warranty: We pass on the full manufacturer’s warranty for all materials used in your project. This means that if any materials are found to be defective, you’ll be covered for repairs or replacements according to the terms of the manufacturer’s warranty. We carefully select quality materials to ensure durability and longevity, giving you confidence in the investment you’ve made in your home.
How do you handle communication during the project?
Communication is one of our top priorities. We believe that a successful project is built on open, honest communication, and we want you to feel completely comfortable reaching out to us at any time with questions or concerns.
Since we’ll only be working on your project, you’ll find it easy to communicate with us because you’ll see us regularly on-site. Morgan also sends out weekly update texts to keep you informed about the progress of your project, so you’re always in the loop. While face-to-face communication and texting are our preferred and most efficient methods, we’re also happy to connect via phone or email—whatever works best for you. We’re here to talk through anything and everything with you, so please don’t hesitate to share what’s on your mind.
How do you handle dust, debris, and general cleanliness?
Cleanliness is incredibly important to us at Conolly & Company Construction. We understand that maintaining a clean workspace not only makes our job easier but also respects your home and comfort. While construction inevitably produces some dust, we take every precaution to minimize its impact and keep your space as clean as possible.
We take steps such as taping off carpets, putting up plastic barriers, running vacuums, and cleaning the area multiple times throughout the process. Additionally, we haul away all debris and garbage throughout the project, so you never have to worry about dealing with the mess. These measures help contain dust and debris, but it’s important to note that a small amount of dust may still find its way onto surfaces. Our goal is to reduce that as much as possible, ensuring that your home remains as tidy and comfortable as it can be during the construction process.
